Google Assistant's driving
mode has come a long way since the incredibly disappointing preview that was released two years after its initial announcement. Instead of creating that renewed user interface for phone screens, Google chose to leave the original in its own silo. While some models require a USB cable to use Android Auto, there are several receivers that allow you to use Android Auto wirelessly if you have a compatible phone. Assisted driving mode is also limited only to Google Maps, where Android Auto for phone screens is at least compatible with Waze (also owned by Google). Perhaps the most important thing about Google Assistant's driving mode compared to Android Auto for phone screens is simply that you can't use it in landscape mode.
